Abstract
Paradiplomacy has a well-established and extensive body of international scholarly literature. However, it is worth examining to what extent research and academic discourse on paradiplomatic issues have been present in Hungary, a country that, under the communist regime prior to 1990, operated within a system that imposed significant limitations on international—and, by extension, sister city—relations. The objective of the present study is to provide an overview of the Hungarian literature on paradiplomacy, as well as the research being conducted in this field within Hungary. In doing so, the study addresses both bilateral and multilateral dimensions of municipal diplomacy.
